Georgia’s oldest leadership program for teens, the Georgia EMC Washington Youth Tour began in 1965 and is designed to teach students about U.S. history, the role of democracy, the importance of community and public service and the need for civic leadership and service.
High school students are selected annually by the electric cooperatives that serve the citizens of Georgia to represent our state as delegates on the Georgia EMC Washington Youth Tour. This top-notch leadership experience and tour of Washington, D.C., includes meetings with state and national leaders and leadership training as well as visits to all the major sights. Participants join nearly 1,700 students from around the nation – all expenses paid – for one incredible week in our nation’s capital.
